Google Launches Better Search App Browsing For iPad with Chrome OS

Google gave iPad search app has been something of a mixed gift for iDevice owners, new Google Search app, you’ll notice right away that there is a huge difference between it and the much maligned gmail app for iOS. and, ironically, giving Android tablet users another reason to switch.

The main feature of the app is a simple and gorgeous implementation of Google Search, isn’t the most interesting bit here. Seeing display results as soon as you begin to type, without the need of pressing the search button.

Including an easy way to recommend and share content with others, all within an iOS wrapper: Gmail, Calendar, Docs, News, Google+, Reader, Photos, Maps, YouTube, Translate, Voice, Offers, Finance, Books and Blogger.

Google Search is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone, iPads with iOS 4.0 or higher, and available in the App Store as a free download. New pages are added with a slide-in pane that layers over search results and makes it easy to go back and forth between them.

Chrome, as an OS that was meant to be run ‘in the browser’ is an ideal candidate for seeding onto rival platforms. It can exist as a standalone entity in a way that no other OS can. It’s also interesting that the app is simply labeled ‘Google’ and not ‘Google Search’, which is the real name of the app and well within the iOS character limit for app names.

Searching for images has also been optimized. That’s its power and what makes the way that this app was built and released so interesting. Tapping on a picture launches an image carousel that lets you swipe through to see other photos
