The Facebook Phone may be finally coming with Codename 'Buffy'

Earlier this year, you may still remember the HTC Status and HTC Salsa from AT&T, the pair of “Facebook phones” that weren’t exactly up to their titular status. The phone is apparently code-named "Buffy" after the vampire slayer from film and screen.

a Facebook Phone, today the rumors have been stirred up again thanks to a report from All Things D. Tweaking Android heavily seems like the common theme of every company out there not named Google. Although it has been some time since we heard anything about It's certainly not HTC. It’s mean that Facebook is working with Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC to build the smartphone, but went with HTC instead.

Facebook may be going down a path similar as Amazon did with its Kindle Fire tablet. A spokesman for Facebook declined to directly comment on development on the new Facebook phone, but stated that. For the operating system Facebook working across the entire mobile industry; with operators, hardware manufacturers, OS providers, and application developers to bring powerful social experiences to more people around the world. Facebook's social features would be built deeply into the platform, of course, and apps would mostly come via HTML5.

Should these rumors pan out, it will be interesting to see if Facebook can maintain friendly relations, just go tap open the Facebook app on your smartphone. It’s plenty good enough, unless Facebook has thought up of a revolutionary way to combine their social network with the Android OS, and still streamline the user experience at the same time.
