BioShock Infinite will Hit the Stores Next Year!

BioShock Infinite is the third installment of the BioShock series that is still in development phase. BioShock Infinite combines actions from First-Person Shooters game with elements of Role-Playing Game. The second installment of the BioShock series, BioShock 2, was developed by 2K and Digital Extremes for the multiplayer, not by the original BioShock developer, Irrational Games. In the meantime, Irrational Games is working at BioShock’s sequel project called “Project Icarus”. “Project Icarus” is the earlier name of BioShock Infinite, which is scheduled to release sometime next year.
BioShock Infinite is not really a direct sequel nor prequel of the original BioShock. The setting of BioShock Infinite does not take place in the underwater steampunk city of Rapture. BioShock Infinite will take place in “Columbia”, an air city high up the sky and long time ago before Jack’s plane crashed on Rapture. It isn’t even the government’s little secret. The United States officially launched “Columbia” in 1900. It is meant to be a floating mobile “World’s Fair”. But sometimes before the game event, during the Boxer Rebellion, this warship-in-disguise got into an international problem for shooting group of Chinese civilians. Then, the United States government disapproved it and soon. “Columbia“ became an independent flying city and no one knew its whereabouts anymore.
The protagonist is a former Pinkerton National Detective Agency agent that got kicked out of the agency because of his bad, bad, behaviour. The name is Booker DeWitt. This unemployed sorry-ass dude luckily got a job, which is a rescue mission. He is hired by some mysterious dude to save Elizabeth, a woman trapped in the Columbia. Mr. DeWitt seems to find this mission rather too easy for a disgraced former agent like him because that Elizabeth chick is easily found. But the fact is, the war that is going on the “Columbia” centers on this particular chick. The Founders want to capture Liz because those sick-asses believe that Liz’s power can stop the conflict and bring peace back to the air-city. While the opposing faction, Vox Populi rather rip Liz to shreds than to get Liz captured by the Founders.
We will not meet splices, Big Daddies, or Little Sisters, they are all gone in BioShock Infinite. Gone like real gone, but not completely. Irrational Games decided to replace the badasses with much badder badasses. As seen in the trailer, an enormous robot that looks like a bird called Songbird. He chases Mr. DeWitt and Elizabeth. Songbird is Elizabeth warden and friend. Player travels around “Columbia” with a grappling hook and series of railway that supposed to be cargo transport called Skyline. A couple chased by a freaky giant robot bird that loves to stroll around the floating city via cargo transport. BioShock Infinite sounds sweet, eh?
There are no more tonics and plasmids in BioShock Infinite. Irrational Games decided to give us Vigors and Nostrums instead. Vigor is an active skill like telekinesis and animal control (I’m serious) while Nostrum is a passive skill like hit points and damage resistance. Vigors and Nostrums are permanent and cannot be changed, different from its predecessor that uses Gene Banks to alter plasmids and tonics.
I wonder, when’s BioShock Infinite exactly gonna be available at Walmart?
