Henna Hairball: How permanent is Henna?

Another Question from the Henna Series - Can you remove Henna once you have dyed your hair?

As a scientist the answer is yes, as a human being the answer is no.
For all intents and purposes, you should consider the process of dyeing hair with Henna to be a permanent one. In all honesty, you can definitely play with some solvents and acidity to remove or lighten it (yes there is even a reference for this which I am not putting up............as Niecy Nash would say, 'That is some foolishness'). Do a strand test, decide how long you want to leave it on.

Henna appears to fade when used for body art but this is not what is happening. In actual fact our skin is constantly renewing itself. When your new cells come through, the old dyed ones fall off.
