Advertising on Blogs..........part 2
Posted on Saturday, August 14, 2010 by Arman Zulhajar
Earlier, I asked how you felt about advertising on blogs. The response was varied from
1. Be careful, a myth busting blog displaying advertising may lose credibility
2. Feature product reviews instead of direct advertising
3. Get a donate button instead
4. Go ahead, do it with integrity
After mulling my options, I decided that getting a donate button is the way forward for me. It is not compulsory to donate and the information here will always be free. If you wish to contribute, then you can do so and it would be much appreciated. The money from this will go towards funding more research to answer the hair questions that matter to us.
Why a donate button?
This blog was set up.........because I was well and truly hacked off by a major hair blog which posted up some seriously misleading and highly incorrect 'science'. It was scaremongering of the highest order and I commented on the blog in full detail as to why the post was misleading but the blogger did not post up my comment. I then emailed the blogger asking why they had not posted up my comment and I did not receive a reply. I therefore thought to myself:
1. Why am I waiting for someone to post up these facts, why not do it myself?
2. Why not reference the material so that anyone can go back and read the paper?
3. Why not set a standard for what counts as scientific information?
4. Why not do this for free?
These are the basic principles that I founded this blog on and by sticking to the formula (find research, post with references) the blog has reached an astronomical number of views that I did not envision (we are well on target for 70,000 views this month).
As the blog developed my new addition to this list is why not do some more research? I have achieved and continue to achieve the goals I set out, I really look forward to doing more!
* If you are wondering what is the major blog she is talking about............umm no gossiping allowed :)
* If you are wondering where is the donate button?.............I haven't signed up for one yet but I will do so soon, just giving you advance notice!
